the CONSTRUCTION of the pyramids
It took over 400,000 people and 30 years to build a pyramid and there were more than 100 of them. The building of the pyramids took place in the old middle kingdom periods.
The construction of the pyramids was huge with significant levels of well thought out planning. Additionally to build the pyramids required a huge amount of supplies. The limestone blocks they used ranged in weight from one to one hundred tonnes. One of the hardest parts of the whole construction was transporting the huge blocks. The ancient Egyptians would roll the blocks to the site on logs or pull the blocks on sleds, and then once they were at the site use ropes to pull the blocks up wooden ramps. The pyramids were made up of about 2,300,000 stone blocks.
